The Breault Laboratory at Boston Children’s Hospital is focused on identifying mechanisms underlying tissue and stem cell homeostasis in self-renewing tissues, such as intestine, adrenal gland, and bone using mouse, human and cell culture models. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced full-time Research Associate position in the Gastrointestinal Organoid Derivation and Culture Core Facility of the Harvard Digestive Disease Center at Boston Children’s Hospital.
BS/BA and two-three years laboratory experience. Prior cell culture experience is essential and experience in isolating primary cells and/or organoid culture is desirable. The candidate should be willing to commit to at least 2 years to this position. In addition, competence in the following techniques is highly preferred: immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, animal dissection, CRISPR/Cas9, and use of viral vectors in cell culture. Candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Ability to troubleshoot, self-motivate, strong organizational and communication skills, and a willingness to accept challenges are highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishing and culturing of human/mouse intestinal organoids
- Conditioned media preparation
- FACS analysis
- Supply ordering
- Document, compile and analyze experimental data with meticulous record keeping
- In addition, this position will involve training others in organoid culture techniques and collaborating with outside laboratories.
Past research assistants in the lab have gone on to prestigious graduate and medical schools as well as positions within the biomedical/pharma industry. Boston Children’s Hospital cannot offer visa sponsorship for this opportunity.
